The popular television series “The Simpsons” shows its 4 million viewers for the first time a special section on Bitcoin and Blockchain.
“The Simpsons”, the longest running TV series of all time, addressed the topic of crypto-currency and Blockchain in its last episode. It was the 13th episode of the 31st season, in which the animated series was dedicated over 80 seconds to explaining the basics of virtual currencies. The short crypto segment was explained by Mr. Jim Parsons, the actor behind Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory.
During the segment, Parsons explained how important the block chain is for the function of Bitcoin. He then went on to explain how the block chain actually works. Parsons also explained how a distributed ledger works and how blocks are inserted into the block chain. The section also included a caption in which the makers of the show joked that they “know who Satoshi is, but we don’t tell”.
“I am a consensus of shared and synchronized digital data spread across multiple platforms from Shanghai to Grenada. Every day I am closer to being the money of the future. Not in your wallet, I’m in your computer.”
While crypto currency is a room full of technical terms, the show manages to provide an explanation that appeals to the average citizen. The Simpsons, who have an average audience of over 4 million viewers, use it to bring the clip on crypto-currencies to the masses.
